1. I learned how to blend two things together and how to steal from other artists. Before this unit I never would have thought about deliberately "stealing" but now I look at it a new light. Changing one aspect or combining two things is really fun. The picture above shows my original idea of combining a banana and snake. After trying to sketch it out I realized that they didn't really go together that well. People would have trouble telling what the banana was.
2. Original art doesn't exist. We watched a couple of TED talks about how nothing is truly original. I was afraid to "copy" before this unit. Now I will embrace it. I will change small details. No one creates truly original art. The picture above is a mix between Mr. Incredible and Superman. I stole both of these characters but the outcome is completely different.
The picture above was my final piece of artwork. It is half turtle half pineapple. I think it turned out pretty well. The front (where the head is) looks a bit weird. I should have flattened or rounded that side. The eye is also a bit weird. I always have trouble with the feet and I didn't shade that well. There were a lot of things I could have improved on but overall I think it turned out pretty well. In my Incredible drawing the market turned out weird. I also didn't shade as much as I could have. I really need to work on my shading.
